Ilkka Kylmänen takes on a new role at Mitta Oy

Ilkka Kylmänen, currently Business Unit Director for the Environmental Division at Mitta Oy, has been appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) effective 1 November 2025.

Kylmänen, 63, has led Mitta’s Environmental Division since 2014 and brings decades of experience in surveying and geotechnical services. He is a recognized expert in the water sector, with deep knowledge of water surveys, dam safety, and related areas.

To enhance operational efficiency and service development, Mitta has named Kylmänen as COO. In this role, he will drive cross-industry collaboration, support the growth of Mitta’s entire business, and spearhead the creation and implementation of new services.

“Ilkka has an exceptionally broad range of expertise and a deep understanding of Mitta’s diverse business areas. As COO, he will work closely with the CEO to advance business development,” says Timo Hyvönen, Chairman of the Board.

Kylmänen will continue to lead the Environmental Division alongside his new responsibilities, and all current services will remain unchanged. The Group’s organizational restructuring will proceed throughout the remainder of the year.

Throughout his career, Kylmänen has contributed to numerous major hydropower projects in Finland and abroad. As renewable energy and related innovations gain importance, he emphasizes the need for continuous business development and tailored services to support sustainable solutions.
